Director
Licensed PsychologistDr. VanBuren-Hay completed her graduate training in Counseling Psychology at Michigan State University. She has worked for DeVos Children’s Hospital and CEI Community Mental Health. Dr. VanBuren-Hay has lectured extensively on a wide variety of topics including: mood disorder, traumatic brain injury, and neuropsychological evaluations. She has also obtained her Juris Doctorate from Cooley Law School. Currently, she provides psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. In addition, Dr. VanBuren-Hay is a consultant to Sparrow Hospital and assists in providing neuropsychological consultation.

Clinical Social Worker SUD, MRT, Mental Health and DV TherapistTodd is a Licensed Master of Social Work. He graduated from Spring Arbor University in 2019. His work experience is in substance abuse, addiction, depression, anxiety, and trauma. He works in both individual and group settings. He also runs the Batters Intervention program and Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT).

Kellie loves working with individuals interested in change and personal growth. She utilizes active listening, empathy and evidence-based concepts to empower clients. Her approach to creating a framework for mental health and wellness includes Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavior Theory, and Psychoeducation.

Limited Licensed Social Worker-SUD, DV, MRT, and Mental Health Therapist
Fadi graduated from Spring Arbor University with a bachelor’s in social work in 2019. He completed his master’s degree in clinical social work in 2021. Fadi has worked with behavioral health and co-occurring disorders for over 9 -years as a peer recovery mentor, case manager, and clinical social worker. He started his internship at Mid-Michigan Recovery services as a therapist working in a substance use disorder treatment facility in 2019. Today, he is certified as an advanced alcohol and drug counselor (CAADC) with a limited license in clinical social work. Fadi provides therapy to help clients deal with depression, anxiety, grief, dealing with difficult emotions, life transitions, and self-esteem issues. He specializes in drug and alcohol abuse, and addiction. He has worked with a diverse and cultural set of clients. He would be grateful to help you on this journey into a healthy and fulfilling life. Fadi utilizes a wide variety of therapeutic interventions to help individuals meet their goals. Like Client Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Building a strong and healthy relationship with his clients is what he strives for. His goal in working with clients is to offer a safe and non-judgmental space for healing.

Clinical Social Worker
Victoria Hay is a master's level graduate in social work from Michigan State University. She has worked for CEI Community Mental Health on their Assertive Community Treatment team. She works with children and adults on substance use, depression, anxiety, and trauma. She works in the areas of trauma and PTSD and is EMDR trained.

I specialize in substance abuse & trauma. I am a recovering heroin addict and have been clean from opiates for 6 years. While walking my recovery journey I struggled with many things and lost so much & so many along the way. Today I live a fulfilling life alongside my children and my mission is to empower you w/strength and hope during the darkest of times.
I can also help you to find a sense of purpose, develop your creativity, manage your stress, and overcome bad habits that are holding you back from reaching your goals. Case Manager
William Hay is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Bill is Licensed as a social worker in the state of Michigan. He has worked as a case manager for people experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, with experience working as a representative payee. He has also managed a crisis residential unit serving people experiencing acute psychiatric crisis.

Supervised Parenting Time CoordinatorKristen began working for Cognitive Consultants in 2021. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Olivet University. For 14 years she worked at the Jackson County Youth Center and was a Nurturing Parent Facilitator for youth and their parents in the Residential Treatment Program. Kristen also has experience working with families in foster care as a Supervised Parenting Time Parenting Coach as well as a Foster Care Worker. Kristen serves as the Supervised Parenting Time Coordinator for Cognitive Consultants Supervised Parenting Time Program.
Kristen also serves as a facilitator for the Women’s Domestic Violence Program and CBT Phase 2. She sees individual clients for Domestic Violence, Anger Management, and Retail Fraud.

Licensed Therapist
Alexander Ivory is a licensed therapist with over 6 years of experience specializing in substance abuse, trauma, grief and loss, and general mental health. Holding a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Oakland University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health from the University of the Cumberlands, Alexander is certified in Michigan for substance use services and holds a CADC credential.
Alexander’s approach blends person-centered therapy and CBT, creating a nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and supported.
I believe healing begins with understanding yourself deeply, and my role is to help you reflect, grow, and move forward with clarity. Therapy isn’t just what I do—it’s what I love. Supporting others through meaningful change is truly an honor.

Penny earned her undergraduate degree from Spring Arbor in Family Life Education in 2000. Graduate Degree from Western Michigan University in Counseling/Psychology in 2018 as well as a Special Program Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certificate. She specializes in Cognitive Behavioral treatment, Substance abuse, grief counseling, anger management, anxiety, depression, geriatric concerns, emotional intelligence and domestic violence.

Administrative Services Manager
Chiffon Berry has worked for Cognitive Consultants for 3 years. She graduated from Lansing Community College in 2019 with a General Associate’s Degree. After working as an Administrative Assistant and Referral Coordinator, she was promoted to the role of Administrative Services Manager where she oversees the administrative functions of the office, streamlining efficiency. Outside of her work at Cogs, she has owned and operated a business for 17 years. She believes that great customer service includes letting the client know you care and that you are there to help. She encourages those around her to do better and be better.

KeAnte has a background in office administration and customer service, with 6 years of experience in both the medical and mental health sectors, and plans to pursue a degree in psychology and business administration. She believes that good customer service is vital to a successful business and goes above and beyond to provide that service.

Miles Hay holds a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Marketing Innovation from Eastern Michigan University. As the lead for our marketing and social media initiatives, Miles brings a strong passion for design, storytelling, and community engagement. His work ensures that our message reaches the individuals and families who need our support most, helping to strengthen our presence and impact across digital platforms.

Billing Specialist
April has worked for Cognitive Consultants for a few months. Previous to working at Cogs, she worked for a hospital in West Michigan for 8 years. At that hospital she was also responsible for surgery scheduling. Previous to working in administration, she worked at her local elementary school for 21 years, focusing on helping students who struggled with reading and math. She enjoys spending time with her family including fur babies, my grandkids and grand fur babies. She also enjoys music and supporting her favorite sports teams the MSU Spartans, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions.
I enjoy helping people and truly care about others.
